- GREGORY EDWARD GITTINGS It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Greg in his 49th year at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 27, 2013. Greg, loving son of Joyce and Ted Gittings of Clarkson, dearly loved brother of Linda (Mel Parrott) of Prescott, Janice (Phil Lewin) of Glen Williams, David (Susan) of Oakville and Sandra (Bob Keane) of Mississauga. Greg will be remembered by his eleven nieces and nephews and four great-nnieces and nephews. Despite the challenges presented by Cerebral Palsy, Greg was an active player for 28 years with the Canadian Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association. He participated in 1976 at the official opening of the Toronto CN Tower. Greg loved to travel the world, both independently as well as with his family which included meeting Prince Andrew in 1986 and having high tea with Princess Anne in 2007. Greg spent every weekend with his parents in Clarkson, yet as a resident of Oof Oakville, he loved spending time downtown and will be missed by the local residents and merchants. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy. 10. N. of the QEW) on Thursday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m. A celebration of Greg's life will be held at Christ Church United, 1700 Mazo Cres. (Clarkson) Mississauga, on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 2 p.m. Private interment at Springcreek Cemetery. In remembrance, memorial donations to Christ Church United or the March of Dimes "Jean & Howard Caine Building", 259 Robinson St., Oakville, L6J 6G8 would be appreciated by the family.
