- Alexis Jean Hughes, 78 of Girard, died on Monday May 3, 2021 at Andover Village, Ohio.--She was born in Erie, Pa., a daughter of Alex and Jeannette (Gittens) Nimmo.--Jean graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1962. Following high school she worked at Lake Erie Electric, Maxson Buick, Palermo Realty in Millcreek, Paragon Packaging and O'Leary Dental as a part time office manager as well as in the accounting department. She was also a member of the Lake City Presbyterian Church.--She will be greatly missed by her family, which includes her Husband, Lewis Hughes, whom she married February 25, 1965 in Girard; two daughters, Jill Marie Hughes of Erie, Pa., Cheryl Ann (Tim) Fields of Clarendon, Pa.; son, John L. (Becky) Hughes of Girard, Pa.; sister, Margaret (Walt) Carey of Lynchburg, Va.; two grandsons, Alex Hughes (Rebecca), Logan Wright; four granddaughters, Josie Hughes, Jenny Hughes, Molly Wright, Julia Hughes; and beloved cat snickers.--In lieu of flowers donations can be made the Erie City Mission, 1017 French St., Erie, PA 16501.--According to Jean's wishes, there will be no calling hours observed.
