    • The marriage record for this couple lists the wife as Elizabeth Dorothy Gittens. A records search did not produce a baptismal record for an Elizabeth Dorothy Gittens, nor did it uncover a second Joseph Ostrehan. Nor were there any children found for this couple.

      The record search did find an Elizabeth Dorothy Perry who married a Joseph Gittens, 9 Aug 1768, in Saint Michael. The search also noted that Mary Ann Perry a sister to Elizabeth Dorothy Perry married Joseph Ostrehan, 14 April 1781.

      I have surmized that the marriage record between Joseph Ostrehan and Elizabeth Dorothy Gittens dated 11 Jun 1789, in Saint Michael, was in fact a marriage between Joseph Ostrehan (his second marriage) and Elizabeth Dorothy (Perry) Gittens, her second marriage.

      There is no direct evidence for this assumption and it is based on the inter-marriage of the Perry and Ostrehan families and the lack of records to support the birth of an Elizabeth Dorothy Gittens.
