Saint Michael, Barbados [1] |
- Barbados Census, Parish of St. Michaels - 1715
Elizabeth Gittens, Ann's Mother-in-law, age 60 (Age fits but it is an assumption)
Ann Gittens, age 28 (Isaac Gittens died 1713 this is his wife, I am pretty certain)
Male Gittens, age 4 ( age fits Ann's son "John")
The male age 4 is definately son "John" born Apr 11, 1712.
I suspect the other son Isaac who would have been age 6 at the time of the census may have been in an apprenticeship, or deceased at the timeof the census. I could not find a 6 year old named Isaac listed in the Census. I assume he is deceased.

- Deed 37-512, Deed 37-512 dated 7 Nov 1765
Honourable John Gittens, Esq, of St. Philip of the 1st part to Joshua Gittens of St. Phillip, eldest son of John Gittens and his heir apparent of the 2nd part, and Dorothy Blackman of St. Michael, Spinster of the 3rd part daughter of John Lacie Blackman of St. Michael of the 4th part....
Pending marriage between Joshua Gittens and Dorothy Blackman plus 2,000£
Notes: it appeared in this very long document that Joshua Gittens was bring land and Dorothy money into the marriage.
NB: This deed clarifies that Dorothy Blackman married Joshua Gittens, eldest son of the Honourable John Gittens. [In my database I had Dorothy Blackman Married to Joshua Gittens, Son of Edward Gittens and Margaret Ray...which is incorrect!]
