Mr. William Bubert Gittens, age 87, died in Georgetown, Guyana, on Sunday, January 9 2011. Born on August 28, 1923, in Georgrtown, Guyana, he lived in Guyana before settling in Brooklyn , New York, USA. Later in 2004mhe retired to Georgetown, Guyana. He was a Police Officer in Guyana, emigrated to the United Statesof America and worked at the Empire State Building until retiring at age 70. Herbert was was a founder and longtime active member of the Guyanese Police Association in New York.
He is the last deceased and youngest son of Sarah Daniel Gittens and Joseph Gittens. Aunt Bertha deceased. Brother of siblings: Irene, Joseph,Oscar, Brentnol, John Charles and Hyacinth. Survivors include his children Veronica Gittens, Stella Gittens, Keith Gittens, Herbert Gittens, Bernadette King, Joseph Gittens, Charlaine Gittens, Roslini Gittens, Eral Gittens, and Gloria Gittens.
