      Henry David Herche, 81, of Sykesville, MD, died Wednesday, September 8, 1999, at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, MD.
      Born February 12, 1918 in Barbados, West Indies, he was the son of the late Henry William and Esther Foster Herche. He was the husband of Catherine Elizabeth Herche of Sykesville.
      He was a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. He was a member of Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church, Sykesville, MD where he was actively involved in the "Apple Dumpling Gang," United Methodist Men, and the Methodist Youth Fellowship. He was active with the Boy Scout Troop 719 in Sykesville for over 37 years.
      Surviving in addition to his wife are son and daughter-in-law Donald and Kathy Herche of Sykesville; daughter and son-in-law Betty and Jim Smith of Uniontown; brother Henry William Herche of Timonium; and sister, Gladys Smee, of Parkville; and six grandchildren.
      He was predeceased by brother William Alan Herche.
      A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 1999 at Wesley Freedom United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard McCullough officiating. Arrangements by Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD.
