    DEATH The Family Search Database included a death record dated 22 March 1852, for John William Gittens, but the record was inclusive that it was the death record of my GG Grandfather, John William Gittens.

    However, a new marriage record for Joseph William Fitzpatrick to Mary Ann (Hyde) Gittens, Widow, was found dated 15 January 1857. This marriage record provided the name of the bride’s father as Samuel Hyde, indicating that Mary Ann (Hyde) Gittens was the same person who married my GG Grandfather John William Gittens in 1847.

    Further, a witness on the marriage record for Joseph William Fitzpatrick to Mary Ann (Hyde) Gittens was my GGG Grandfather Thomas P Gittens, the late husband of Mary Ann.

    It seems fairly certain that John William Gittens who was buried on 22 March 1852, was my GG Grandfather.  [6, 7]
