    Hi everyone,
Many thanks for your e-mails and my apologies for not being able to keep up with my
correspondence. I am heavily involved in other projects at the moment and have got no further
ahead with Samuel James Foster and his parents.
Just wanted to let you all know that when I put the Foster Tree together back in the early '90's, it
was my first attempt. It was compiled mainly from people's memories and family stories passed
to me and therefore should only be used as a guideline. Since that time, I have checked many of
the names by record and corrected and added much information. This work is still in progress as
time allows. One of those corrections was the marriage of Allan Percy Foster to Alice Kitchin
    as follows:-
    LDS Film #1158024 Pg. 413
    Marriage Date: 16 Dec 1891
Place: Chapel of St. Augustine, St. George, Barbados
    Groom: Allan Percy FOSTER
    Age: 27 - Bachelor
    Occupation: Merchant's Clerk
    Abode: Bridgetown
Father: Samuel James FOSTER -- Planter
    Bride: Alice Isabelle KITCHIN
    Age: 18 - Spinster
    Occupation: ----
    Abode: Bridgetown
Father: David James (sic) KITCHIN - Captain
(I think there is an error in the records regarding his middle name. Capt. Kitchin's burial
record shows his middle name as Jackson (not James). Alice and Percy also named their first
son Allan Jackson FOSTER. Perhaps Ms. Peeling will be able to clear this up for us.
    Witnesses: D.J. KITCHIN & S.A. (?) HERBERT
Minister: J. Went KING - married by Licence.
There's always an element of truth in family legends. Here we find the Herbert name as a
witness and on further investigation, I found that Alice's older sister married Sydney Winston
HERBERT. Perhaps the second witness above is meant to be S.W. Herbert and not S.A.
Again my apologies for the lack of correspondence. Hope this little bit is of some help.
    Kind regards to all,
