Hi Cliff,
Here are little bits of info my mother told me about her family.
Michael O'Riordan was from COUNTY CORK Ireland. This might narrow the search for Gertrude's birthplace if in Ireland.
Gertrude,s sister Kathleen (Aunt Toosie) who was either a full sister or half sister, from Michael's second wife lived with Gertrude & Samuel Clement. There was never a mention of any other sister that I know of.
Could this information on Rosie account for visits made by Samuel Clement, Gertrude & our grandmother Anne, Eileen to Philadelphia and New York ( to visit Rosie's family in philadelphia, and Jerry in New York)?
Gertrude did have a brother Jerry who emigrated to the US and changed his name to RIORDAN. Gertrude was not pleased about this and asked him if he was ashamed of his name.
Michael O'Riordan also had a brother who emigrated to Australia at the same time he emigrated to Barbados.
Our grandmother Anne Eileen spent 5 years in the US and Canada because of back problems, I believe surgery was involved.
Maybe she stayed with Jerry's or Rosie's family.
