Page 18 1805[RB4/55/138] Original Proved will of Joseph Gittens of the parish of St. Philip…planter… Inprimus. …the place I now reside at containing twelve and a half acres of land…be sold…and that the money arising there from be applied in payment of my just debts… and the balance in the purchase of a smaller place… Item. …this said place hereafter to be purchased …to my said Executrix and Executor inTrust to and for the only proper use, Benefit and Behoof of my widow,and of my children Dorothy Hannah, Joseph, Sarah, Jane Ann, Robert Nathaniel, Benjamin and Eastmond…and after her departure…for the use and benefit of my aforesaid children until the youngest surviving child shall attain his or her age of twenty one…to be equally divided between them… Item. …unto my said Executrix and Executor the following Negro slaves to wit, Violet and Sally Patience, women, and Ruthie Janea girl with their future issue and increase, in Trust… Item. ..unto my said daughter Sarah, a Negro woman Slave named Hagar with her issue… And lastly…nominate my beloved wife and my friends Robert Norris Esq.
