I've been meaning to get back to you but a very busy last few weeks and a number of PC problems (I did a clean install of Windows 7 and have had a myriad of problems since) have combined to the delay in my response.
I've been poking around your site looking for links to any Mayers and came across a couple that you may not know of.
First Connection to Mayers
· John Jones Jr - I show him a John Jones (d 1684) married to Sarah(d abt 1701). They had 5 children:
o Jusuran (you show him as Jessman)
o Frances (chr Feb 16 1672)
o Ann (chr Jun 11 1674)
o Sarah (chr May 12 1677)
o John (chr Oct 5 1684)
· Jusuran Jones married Frances Frere on Aug 16 1691
· Frances Jones married Robert Mayers (b abt 1665) around 1689 and they had three children:
o Jesuran Samuel
o John Mayers (a doctor & Colonel in the militia)
o Joseph (his son was Edward Lascells whose Will connects Joshua Mayers Gittens to his father John)
· The following is information from a Deed that I reviewed at the Archives:
o Deed/Agreement @ Barbados Archives Ref RB 3/48 Vol 24 Page 127 Dated July 25 1703 between Robert Mayers & his wife Frances Mayers (nee Jones) and Richard Brewster Executor for the Estate of John Jones . Document reviewed. Essentially it is an agreement that for the payment of 26 Pounds by the estate to Frances Mayers, the 1/5 share of the proceeds from her father's estate to which she was entitled, will be satisfied. Document names John Jones' five children. An interesting note is that one of Frances' brothers was named Jusuran and presumably that is why Robert & Frances named their eldest son Jesuran (spelt slightly different). The lands owned by John Jones and mentioned in the Deed/Agreement were 26 acres in size and were bounded and abutted by the lands of Capt Roger Cotting, Francis Catting, Henry Pegg, Richard Brewster, Daniel Hutchinson, John Gittings & Nathaniel Carter.
· No other info on Ann, Sarah or John Jones
Second Mayers Connection:
You have a second Ann Jones (not connected to those above) married to Robert Hendy. They had six children as you have shown. One of those children was Philip Gibbes Hendy. He married Martha Mayers (b 1833 d Apr 4 1921). They had one son Robert Mayers Hendy (b 1858). Martha was one of the 12 children of James Benjamin Mayers and his wife Dorothy Massiah. I have written an article which hopefully will be published in this year's edition of the Journal of the Barbados Museum & Historical Society about the Mayers Culpeper Burial Site restoration project which took place in Mar & Apr 2009. The Mayers associated with this Burial Site is James Benjamin. He and just about all of his children including Martha, are buried in one of the vaults on this burial site. Philip Gibbes Hendy was one of the witnesses to the Will of my 2nd Great Grandfather - John Mayers Sr.
I haven't had a chance to have a real good look at your site but will do so in the next while and I am sure I will come across more connections and I will let you know accordingly. I see you also have the names Palmer, Toppin, Clarke & Nurse so I will be taking a look at those and possibly others as well.
