Item. ..to my son Matthew Gittens and to the heirs of his body lawfully to be begotten forever, one certain piece or parcel of land being in this parish…with the houses and buildings standing thereon containing eleven acres…bounding on the lands of my brother Doctor Joseph Gittens, Edward Sheene, John Perryman, decd John Crichlow and on the broad road with one other piece…being in Thickets…by estimation six and a half acres… bounding on the lands of Thos Shepherd, John Weatherhead, Thos Ashby, Major John Millington, Esq., decd, together also with thirteen negros whose names and sexes are as follows: Quaco,Ned, Sixo, Nick, Cudjo, Cambridge (men), & Jacky a boy, and Edah, Violet, Rose, (women) Cubbah, Cornelia and Stannah, girls, together with the residue… both real and personal to him the said Matthew Gittens and heirs of his body… But in case my son Matthew should depart this life…to my son Joseph Gittens and his heirs… and the other help I give… to be equally divided between the children of my son-in-law Peter Archer…
