Hi Cliff,
What a happy surprise !!! It took me a few minutes but I remembered that you did come visit & everyone called you Clifford & Leslie was nic named Cookie...right ,lol.We were just kids.
I so remember seeing that photo. Bev has it too & all the names are on the back . She's good at who is who.THe Lady with Uncle Bert is one of the Aunts from Barbados..Aunt Issy or Aunt Dolly. Bev is going to check.The lady to my Mother's left is her Mom Elizabeth Walcott.The man is George Walcott one of her relatives(so Bev says).
I'm not in touch with anyone in Barbados but one of my dreams is to go for a visit some day. Need to win the lottery ,lol.
Bev insists that we have tons of black relatives ..so far none of my kids or grandkids have Afros,lol. Uncle Bert did though so she could be right . Bev & Mom went there once when her kids were little . She met a bunch of the relatives.
Do you know of one named Paul?? He'd be in his 80's now if he's still alive.
Now as for us Montrealers we all ended up here in Lethbridge,Alberta.Even my Mom & her 2nd Husband John from England moved here. My father died in Mtl.in' 76..heart attack/stroke. Mom passed away in October of 1996 .She had Alzheimer.John passed away a year later.
Me (the idiot,lol).....I eloped with my Hippy boyfriend Bob Lashley in 1968 to Salt Spring Island ,BC .Got married & then moved to Santa Barbara California. His home town.Lived there for some years & we had 2 wonderful kids ( & a rotten life,lol)..Tracy(daughter) on Dec. 19, 1969 & then Daniel on March 26, 1972. I left & went to BC then to Montreal back to BC then to Lethbridge & then back to Ca,lol. Told you I was a bit of a gypsy.Finally left for good in 1980 & moved here as Bev was here & I didn't want to go back to Montreal.
I met Wayne my present husband in 1983 at a wedding ...he was my waiter & we married in 1986. No more gypsy life for me as I inherited his 2 young boys (he had custody) Chad 3 (now 29 )& Shane 5 (now 31). Have been in the same house for 22 years. Neither one of them is married & probably never will,lol. Just them.They say women are too expensive ! Not ,lol.
Good for you retiring at a great age. What do you do with your time ? Has Donna retired too? And you have grandkids too. Where does the time go ?Do your kids Live close by ? I love Sara's choice of names ...so cute. I lived in Victoria for a few years & in Campbell River for a year too. I loved the Island but the rain got to me as I didn't drive so I always felt wet.
I know Langley too as Bob & I were going to Campbell River to see his brother & the Ferries were on strike so we stayed in a campground for a few weeks . Slept in the car with the 2 babies. Dan was only 1 & Tracy 3. It was beautiful there.
I have 4 Goldens & 2 Fat cats Moonshadow the third & The Baby.One of the dogs..Nella ..has cancer really bad & probably won't make it till Christmas. So sad as she's only going to be 9 in a few weeks. I dread having to have her put to sleep. Goldens have cancer in their DNA so I'm told by the vets at the cancer clinic. I have her sister ..Hanna... Too & then I got 2 ...Emma & Daisy ..not sisters...for Christmas last year & they're brats but I love them. I'm a real animal person. I also have 2 dwarf hamsters.Sorry I'm telling you my life story,lol.I'm just so excited.
I stayed home for a few years but I was getting bored so I got a job at a dollar store . I love to spoil the Grandkids at Christmas & it's my favorite place to shop,lol.Not a good thing. I just started a few weeks ago & I already have 3 boxes of things put away for decorating for Christmas. I love this time of year.
Tracy (who will be 40 on Dec 19th) married Gerald in 1998 & they have 3 kids ...Dylan 17,Lindsie 15 , Taneile 13 & Lucas 13 who they adopted when they lived in California. Funny he even looks like our family. They live in Deer Park, Washington but plan on moving back to Redding , California as soon as their house sells. They love the Ca sun & hate the terrible winters in Wash.
Daniel (Dan)..is 37 & has lived with Lorie for about 13 years has 4 kids . Jaydan (girl) 10 Hunter (Boy) 8 ,Dawson (girl)5 & Maddox(boy) 3. Names could be girl or boys names,lol. So all in all I have 8 grandkids .
Tracy just took in Deanthony as a foster boy. He's 15 & belonged to a gang 1/2 his life in Seattle so he's a hand full . Been in & out of trouble . Hoping spending time with a real family will steer him in the right direction.
Now the brother you mentioned is Richard. His story is a sad one . He was married to Wendy & they had 3 kids. Josh 20, Logan 18 & Candice 15. They seperated & he moved to Ontario with the boys & they got into all kinds of trouble stealing ,drugs ,etc. They now live here & Josh is doing better & has a good job at a plant...Logan is on his way to jail for God knows what this time & Candice is a great kid with great grades in school .
Was talking to Rick about 5 months ago & he sounded weird so I had him take a bus back here & we come to find out that he had Picks & he's only 58. It's like Alzhimers but they don't think he's live more than a few more years as the brain shrinks on both sides & the front ...crushing the motor skills part & shuts down the vital organs. He's in a home in a dementia ward. I go see him every other day & take him out to stores & my house for a change of pace. So sad.
We also have a brother Robert (Bob)...4 years younger than Rick. He's married & has an adopted son Jason 37(his wife's son from a previous marriage) & Adam 28& Jessica26 . Adam just got married this year & Jessie is looking to marry her live in sweetie. Jessie is now my hairdresser .
So glad to know about you, Donna & all the family.I hope we can keep in touch & maybe get together some day. I would love some recent photos if you wouldn't mind. After all we are cousins ,yay.
