| Text | The Census of Barbados taken in 1715 for the Parish of Saint Michael details the following information on page 211 Ann Gittens household - 2 Women ages 60.28. 1 Boy age 4 It is believed that Ann Gittens, age 28, was the wife of the late Isaac Gittens who died about 1713. It is believed that the 60 year old woman may be Ann’s mother-in-law Elizabeth (Chapman) Gittens, or the 60 unknow woman could be Ann’s mother, name unknown. It is believed the 4 year old boy was John the son of Issac and Ann Gittens born 10 Apr 1713. The age doesn’t match exactly. The first son Issac, born to Isaac and Ann Gittens would have been age 6 at the time of the census. He however, is not included with this family group. The assumption is that he had died before 1715. | |
